The torn veil billows

to reveal a hint of what 

lies behind the lies 

 Change can come in a 

shock of pain or a slow dive

into the unknown  

You, so enveloped

in your life cannot hear the

muffled screams outside 

The hardscrabble makes 

for hard-nosed choices like 

Solomon's judgement 

The sun drops amid 

a burst of crimson and plum

but dark thoughts intrude
