The flames licked higher, climbing the walls as Joe stood in the room, a can of gas still in his hand.
The couple sat on the beach that night talking more honestly than ever before, both thinking there openness had something to do with the sound of the crashing waves and the fat, red moon reflecting off the black water.
The ghost tried hard to communicate with the living, but mostly just ended up scaring the hell out of people, and he began to spend less and less time bothering, instead finding solace in the household pets.
I'm an artist and writer. I've published two non-fiction books,"Gilded Age Murder & Mayhem in the Berkshires," (2015) and "Hudson Valley Murder & Mayhem" (2017). I'm currently working on my third book, which is about Edgar Allan Poe and the crimes that inspired his work, due out in 2020 .
