A blog in honor of Ernest Hemingway's continual search for the perfect sentence. Now in a new and improved haiku format!
The torn veil billows
to reveal a hint of what
lies behind the lies
Change can come in a
shock of pain or a slow dive
into the unknown
Born out of time but
that gives us the long view to
see the coming end
Shifting sand and waves
that stagger with a crushing
force won't drown me yet
Walking along the
river I composed something
clever that's now gone
In slanting light cut
by shadow a starling waits
for its flock forlorn
Commercialism
so crass it sucks up all in
its path to the soul
Late that night I thought
I had the answer to life's
mysteries, but no
Serendipity
sometimes needs a nudge, she said
giving me a wink
In line at the store
a stranger told me his life
story in minutes
A whiplash smile and
a heart full of buzzing bees
we had once or twice.
Tumbleweed down the
day towards the next dawn and wait
for the bloody sun
Inject a bit of
chaos routine into the
and shake off the dust
Let the song surround
you, seep into the soul and
remind you of home
Stare up at the stars
at the light predating the
oldest book or art
The burned out house got
a facelift but they could not
cover death's shadow
I used to drink 'em
under the table but now
I am the table
